SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT WANTED!
We are Upstart 13. We are humble, hungry, and competent people who are radically changing the expectations and experience of outsourcing for all participants by challenging barriers that create inequality and by bringing down borders in technology for people everywhere. We’re all about delivering value and doing big things. We have become a game-changer for teams around the world who look to Upstart’s services as a differentiator.
Job Description:
We're seeking a Solutions Architect located in Latin America to help us bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution. The Solutions Architect will be a delivery-rooted technical authority who ensures that every solution we propose to customers is both compelling and executable. Grounded in engineering practices but engaged early in the sales cycle, this role will capture requirements, understand customer challenges, and design solutions that balance impact with feasibility.
In this role, you will lead initial architectural assessments and work closely with sales to shape the technical solution, clarify resourcing needs, and provide input that informs costing. Additionally, you will be accountable for ensuring that proposals reflect delivery reality, avoiding plans that cannot be executed, and positioning delivery teams for success from the start.
Unlike long-term delivery roles, this position thrives in the early stages of engagements. The Solutions Architect will be constantly exposed to new industries, technologies, and problem spaces, making it an ideal opportunity for engineers who love variety and want to stay at the forefront of solution design.
This role calls for strong technical depth combined with a broad architectural perspective, as well as the ability to translate complex ideas into clear business value. The Solutions Architect should be a trusted advisor, a confident communicator, and a collaborative partner who connects strategy with execution, bringing together the right people, processes, and technologies to create solutions that last.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with sales during the solutioning phase: engage in discovery with clients, ask the right questions, and shape proposals that reflect delivery reality.
- Conduct technical and architectural assessments to identify risks, dependencies, and effort drivers.
- Define solution architecture, scope, and costing to support accurate proposals and successful delivery hand-off.
- Build technology roadmaps aligned with customer goals and organizational delivery capabilities.
- Lead architectural decisions in pre-sales contexts, serving as the accountable technical voice for solution feasibility.
- Deliver clear, compelling technical presentations and demos that highlight business value and practicality.
- Collaborate with delivery leadership to ensure proposals are implementable, avoiding over-promising or unfeasible commitments.
- Qualify opportunities from a technical perspective, ensuring feasibility and alignment with company offerings.
- Guide smooth transition from discovery into delivery execution.
- Serve as a trusted advisor in discussions with clients, executives, and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in solution architecture practices by bridging lessons from delivery back into sales.
- Drive ongoing learning, innovation, and improvement in solution design and execution.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture.
- 3+ years participating in pre-sales, technical consulting, or similar client-facing engagements.
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills, including building decks and illustrating proposed solutions.
- Proven ability to lead technical discovery, pre-sales assessments, and solution design that align with delivery capabilities.
- Broad technical knowledge across domains (Cloud, Integration, Data, Applications, Security, DevOps).
- Expertise in assessing architecture feasibility, delivery practices, and SDLC maturity.
- Demonstrated leadership in architectural decision-making and guiding cross-functional delivery teams.
- Experience in technical recruitment, talent evaluation, and team assembly.
- Ability to design and present demos that simplify complex architectures for executive and technical audiences.
- Familiarity with enterprise integration platforms, SaaS ecosystems, and cloud-native design.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect customer needs to executable technical solutions.
Soft skills:
- Trusted Advisor: Builds credibility with clients and executives by blending delivery-grounded technical expertise with business insight.
- Clear Storyteller: Communicates complex architectures in ways that resonate with executives, business leaders, and technical teams.
- Collaborative Leader: Bridges sales and delivery, fosters open dialogue, and ensures alignment between proposal and execution.
- Strategic Thinker: Connects immediate solutions to long-term scalability and delivery success.
- Adaptable Generalist: Moves confidently across multiple technology areas while knowing when to bring in deeper experts.
- Innovative Problem-Solver: Challenges assumptions, proposes feasible solutions, and balances creativity with delivering reality.
- Confidence with Humility: Makes strong recommendations while staying open to feedback and different viewpoints.
- Delivery-Minded: Keeps feasibility, execution risk, and delivery team success at the center of solution design.
Bonus skills:
- Hands-on experience with multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), including architecture and migration.
- Knowledge of architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.) for structured decision-making.
- Prior experience in pre-sales roles within consulting, system integrators, or professional services.
- Exposure to pricing, proposal development, and estimating delivery costs.
