Job Description:

We are looking for a seasoned Data Engineer located in Latin America to support an Azure initiative powering scalable analytics and AI with Microsoft Fabric. This position focuses on building pipelines using C#, SQL, and Python, integrating long-tail and legacy data sources into governed lakehouse layers. 

In this role, you'll automate and optimize ingestion and transformation workflows, ensuring that the data platform scales reliably and feeds clean, curated layers into Fabric’s semantic models. You’ll work alongside the Staff Engineer to lead hands-on development, enforce engineering best practices, and accelerate the onboarding of new data sources—all while building the foundation for downstream AI initiatives.

Responsibilities:   

Data Ingestion:

• Develop C# Azure Functions, Data Factory custom activities, and Kusto scripts to pull data from heterogeneous sources.
• Optimize batch sizes, parallelism, and retry logic for immediate scale.

Transformation & Loading:

• Author T-SQL, Spark SQL, and Python notebooks to convert raw (Bronze) data to cleansed (Silver) and curated (Gold) layers.
• Implement incremental & CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns using Delta/Parquet.

Source Expansion:

• Rapidly onboard new “long-tail” feeds (Files, REST APIs, partner DBs), abstracting connection logic into reusable modules.

Quality & Observability:

• Embed data-quality checks, unit tests, and log/metric collection (App Insights, Log Analytics).

DevOps & CI/CD:

• Contribute to Git pipelines (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps) that lint, test, and deploy ingestion artifacts via IaC.

Collaboration:

• Pair with Staff Engineer on technical designs; provide code reviews and mentoring to mid-level engineers.

Qualifications

Experience:

• 6+ years of experience building production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proficient in C#/.NET (async/await, dependency injection).
• Proficient in Data Ingestion and Transformation Design Patterns.
• Experience in Data Validation/Quality.
• Strong SQL experience(T-SQL + Kusto Query Language).
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or Microsoft Fabric.
• Hands-on with Python for data workflows (Pandas or PySpark).
• Experience optimizing throughput (partitioning, compression, retries).
• Familiar with CI/CD and IaC in Azure environments.

Bonus skills: 

• CDC tooling or streaming (Event Hubs) experience.
• PowerShell or Bash scripting for ad-hoc data movement.
• Knowledge of Fabric DirectLake performance tuning.
• Exposure to Data Quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations).
